What to do in Round Rock this Christmas

Round Rock is magical this time of year, and you can feel the holiday spirit throughout the community. The City of Round Rock is expanding several events and including some new traditions as we say goodbye to our previous Christmas Family Night event, which has outgrown Downtown Round Rock. So although things are a little different this year, there are still plenty of holiday happenings for you to enjoy. We can’t wait to see you Rockin’ around Round Rock!

Tinplate Trackers Model Trains
Nov. 26-Jan. 1

The popular model train show that has been drawing thousands of Round Rock families with their amazing display in Downtown Round Rock for many years is expanding and moving to Kalahari Resort and Conventions for the 2021 show. Check it out in the Tom Foolery Events Center at Kalahari Resorts.

Hometown Holiday
Dec. 1-31

Get a glimpse of our enchanting light display in downtown Round Rock. Our Main Street twinkles with brilliant lights and every corner is decorated with Christmas decor. Stroll down our historic downtown and get in the holiday spirit this season!

Light Up the Lake
Dec. 2-4

If you loved Christmas Family Night, you’ll love our expanded Light up the Light event this year. The three-day holiday festival around the lake and festival area at Old Settlers Park will feature giant balloons hovering over Bright Lake, an amazing light show, live music, holiday displays, holiday food and refreshments, crafts, family activities, yule log and more!

Penfold Miracle on 34th Street Radiocast
Dec. 9-19

The players at the fictional KPNF radio station return to put their stamp on another holiday classic: Miracle on 34th Street. As they bring to life the entire story through dozens of character voices and live foley sound effects, you’ll be re-introduced to Kris Kringle, the charming Macy’s mascot put on trial for claiming to be the real Santa Claus.

This holiday season, the Downtowner Gallery will be offering an exhibit curated for gift-giving, with nearly 90 small pieces, made by local artists, that are easy to ship to friends or toss into a stocking at home. Among the artwork: palm-of-hand cactus gardens that fit in a bottle cap to paintings on adorably-sized canvases, whimsical little sculptures and ceramics, illustrations, and digital collage.

Holiday Art Pop Up Show
Dec. 18

Local and regional artists will take over the streets of Downtown Round Rock to sell and demonstrate their art for the public. This month’s event will feature over a dozen artists and special holiday art. Original and unique pieces of art will be available for purchase.
