Stevens, Baker sworn in to Round Rock City Council

Published on May 27, 2021 under RRnews

New City Council Member Kristin Stevens and Place 3 Council Member Matt Baker were sworn in for three-year terms at the May 27 Council meeting.

“I’m excited and I’m ready to continue to work with the Council and with the staff to make this a better place to live, to raise a family and to work,” Stevens said.

Stevens now serves in Place 5 and Baker will remain in Place 3 after being elected in the May 1 elections.

“I thank the community for the opportunity to do a second term,” Baker said. “I’m ready to get to work.”

Supreme Court Justice Jane Bland administered the oath of office to Baker and Stevens.

City Council and the Round Rock community also bid farewell to outgoing Council Member Writ Baese, who served in Place 5. Baese served on the City of Round Rock’s 2013 Bond Advisory Commission, was elected to his first term on City Council in May 2015 and was re-elected to Council in May 2018. Baese served as Mayor Pro-Tem from June 2018 through December 2020.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve the citizens of Round Rock,” Baese said.
