Round Rock population reaches 119,468, according to U.S. Census Bureau

Published on August 12, 2021 under RRnews

Round Rock’s population stands at 119,468, an increase of 19.6% over the last 10 years, according to 2020 Census results released by the U.S. Census Bureau Thursday.

The figures provide a new baseline for the City of Round Rock’s monthly and annual population estimates and projections, which are used to inform decisions regarding City programs and services. City officials will continue to analyze the data in the coming weeks and create user-friendly breakdowns of the data for the Round Rock 2030 Comprehensive Plan website.

Today’s release reveals changes in the size and distribution of the population across the United States. The population of U.S. metro areas grew by 9% from 2010 to 2020, resulting in 86% of the population living in U.S. metro areas in 2020, compared to 85% in 2010.

“Many counties within metro areas saw growth, especially those in the south and west. However, as we’ve been seeing in our annual population estimates, our nation is growing slower than it used to. This decline is evident at the local level where around 52% of the counties in the United States saw their 2020 Census populations decrease from their 2010 Census populations.”

Marc Perry, U.S. Census Bureau Senior Demographer

The Census Bureau also released data visualizationsAmerica Counts stories, and videos to help illustrate and explain these data. These resources are available on the 2020 Census results page. Advanced users can access these data on the FTP site.
