Round Rock Creates launches public survey
Residents are invited to help create the future of arts and culture in Round Rock through the Round Rock Creates master plan and study.
An online survey is available for residents to share their thoughts and desires for arts and culture in Round Rock at publicinput.com/rrcreates. Printed copies of the survey are also available in English and Spanish at the Downtowner Gallery, 231 E. Main St., Suite 160, and the Round Rock Public Library, 216 E. Main St. The survey will be open through Aug. 19.
Round Rock’s arts and cultural community has expanded over the years, featuring hundreds of artists, arts businesses and programming each year. The study will address community interests, changing demographics and market shifts that affect demand for cultural facilities and programming, and provide an update to the City’s Arts and Culture Masterplan that was created in 2011.
The City of Round Rock hired consultant groups AECOM and the Cultural Planning Group to help facilitate the study. Both firms have conducted similar projects throughout Texas, including recent cultural, tourism and attractions work in Round Rock, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Flower Mound and Waco.
Community engagement for Round Rock Creates began in the late spring with key stakeholder interviews and discussion groups, including with existing arts groups. Following the closing of the survey, the project team will summarize findings, finalize an analysis of current facilities in the area and prepare the plan’s framework. From October through January 2023, the strategic plan will be drafted and presented to groups that participated in the public input process before a final version is presented to City Council.
