City Council voted at its Nov. 8 meeting to authorize construction of a trail segment along Round Rock’s Brushy Creek Trail.

The construction, which will fill a significant gap along the popular trail, will include a 10-foot wide concrete trail, a pedestrian underpass at Georgetown Street, and signage. The project will continue the Brushy Creek regional trail system from Rabb House, underneath A.W. Grimes Boulevard, to Georgetown Street. Construction is expected to take place at the beginning of 2019 and last approximately 12 months.

Cost of construction totals $1.9 million, and is funded by bonds approved by voters in 2013. Recent public surveys show that Round Rock residents consider trails an integral part of the City’s infrastructure. Round Rock is currently home to more than 20 miles of hike and bike trails, with several more miles in the planning stages to provide more connectivity for residents.
