City Council authorizes sale of McNeil Park to Nutty Brown Cafe owner
The City sought bids for the 18.4 acre site earlier this summer. Farr submitted the only bid, for $1.1 million, which is slightly above the property’s appraised value of $1.07 million.
Voters authorized the sale of McNeil Park in a 2006 election. The City plans to relocate the adult softball fields to Old Settlers Park.
Following the vote, Farr and Nutty Brown tweeted the following:
“I’m incredibly excited that the Round Rock City Council has authorized the sale of McNeil Park to Nutty Brown. I’m looking forward to working with the City of Round Rock and bringing first class entertainment to their city.
“The McNeil Park property will take some time to develop and in the meantime, I’m happy to say that Nutty Brown will remain in its current location for all of 2015 and all of 2016. And that wouldn’t be possible without the help of HEB, who have been nothing but outstanding partners ever since they purchased land where Nutty Brown currently resides. HEB understood our need to remain open in 2016 and they graciously offered to allow us to stay open another year.
“We have a full schedule of shows booked for the remainder of 2015 and already have great shows booked in 2016 at the current location. So thanks to the City of Round Rock and HEB, we’re looking forward to a great lineup of shows at Nutty Brown’s current location and a future home in Round Rock.”
