City begins demolition process to make way for RM 620 Safety Improvements Project

Published on April 25, 2017 under RRnews

The City, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation, has begun the demolition process on properties on Briarwood and Glenwood streets and at The Commons at Round Rock (901 Round Rock Ave.) to allow for the future RM 620 Safety Improvements Project.

The project includes a bridge to carry RM 620 traffic over the Union Pacific Railroad and Chisholm Trail Road.  In order to maintain access to businesses and residences in the vicinity of the proposed bridge, at-grade local access roads will be constructed between Lake Creek Drive and Chisholm Trail Road. A second bridge is proposed to carry RM 620 traffic over Lake Creek Drive.

The demolition process will allow access to underground utilities needed for the project. The Stagecoach Inn will be relocated from this site and the specifics of the timeline and relocation are being finalized by the City. Updates on the status of the Stagecoach Inn relocation may be found here.

It is anticipated that roadway construction on the 620 Safety Improvements Project will begin in mid- to late-2018 with an estimated duration of 27-30 months.
