Travis County extends burn ban another 30 days
Travis County commissioners unanimously approved a 30 day extension of a countywide burn ban during Commissioners Court on Aug. 9. The extension came after Travis County Fire Marshal Tony Calloway told commissioners conditions have worsened and become drier in the central and northwest portions of Travis County, while conditions have improved, or become more saturated with water, in southeast Travis County because it has received rain. After hearing the report from Calloway, County Judge Sarah Eckhardt said she urged for a 30-day extension, which commissioners approved.
