RRPL awarded Book Fest grant
Fresh new Spanish non-fiction books are on the way!
April 17, 2019, Round Rock Public Library became one of 41 public libraries to receive Texas Book Festival Grant Awards.
The grant, co-sponsored by Texas Library Association (TLA), is awarded for projects that enhance library collections and contribute to a love of reading.
RRPL applied to purchase 110 Spanish non-fiction books. These titles will refresh, expand, and enhance the Spanish Easy and Junior Non-Fiction collections. Currently, the average copyright date of those collections is 2006.
Adding updated non-fiction titles will make the Spanish collections more attractive. It will also provide up-to-date resources for school reports and general education.
The library’s collection developers will take a particular focus on non-fiction for early readers. Statistics show increased demand for materials for this age group, and for children who are learning to read Spanish.
