May is National Preservation Month

Local history and historic preservation organizations have a number of special activities scheduled for National Preservation Month. All activities are free of charge.

  • May 2 and 9: Kids’ historic preservation activity at Music on Main
    Members of the Historic Preservation Commission and nonprofit Round Rock Preservation will host a coloring activity for kids and information about preservation programs for the grownups.
  • May 3: “Building Connections Using Social Photography + Video”
    Preservation Leadership Forum webinar on using social media for preservation programs will be shown at the City Council Chambers between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.
  • May 5: Pioneer Days at Old Settlers Park
    Come join the Williamson Museum from 10 a.m.m to 3 p.m. for reenactments and try your hand at pioneer crafts like butter churning, candle-making, and corn husk dolls.
  • May 10: Preservation Month proclamation
    The Round Rock City Council will proclaim May as Preservation month at its May 10  meeting
  • May 12: “Along the Chisholm Trail Through Round Rock’s Old Town”
    Local historian Karen Thompson will present a history of Round Rock’s Old Town. The talk begins at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 at the City Council Chambers. Sponsored by Round Rock Preservation and the Planning and Development Services Department.
