Investigators believe house fire caused by juvenile playing with lighter
At 3:34 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, Round Rock Fire Department units received a report of a structure fire at 1302 Westcott Drive.
The first units arrived at 3:42 p.m. to find smoke coming from the back of the home. The fire was extinguished around 3:46 p.m. A portion of Provident Lane was closed temporarily as crews worked the scene.
The origin of the fire is believed to be a juvenile playing with a lighter.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries during the incident.
Damage is estimated at $75,000 for home and contents.
After salvage and overhaul and a final check for hot spots, the last Fire Department units cleared the scene at 5:42 p.m.
