Georgetown pizza favorite 600 Degrees to open new restaurant in Round Rock

After eyeing the Round Rock area for three years, 600 Degrees Pizzeria and Drafthouse owner Mark Thompson decided to open a new pizza restaurant at 201 E Main St., Round Rock, in the old location of Svante’s Ranch Direct. The new restaurant, to be called Slap Box Pizzicheria, will open in the span of two and a half to three months, after Thompson makes some changes to the interior space. The name comes from what Italian immigrants used to call pizzerias in the 1940s; slap box, also a nostalgic term, comes from a dated phrase that Thompson wants to revive.
