City of Round Rock approves increased property tax rate, budget of $330 million

Published on September 14, 2017 under CommunityImpact

At Thursday night’s meeting,  Round Rock City Council took the last vote needed to approve the city’s fiscal year 2017-18 budget and property tax rate. The council unanimously voted to approve the budget of $330 million and to set the tax rate at 43 cents per $100 valuation. The tax rate represents an increase of 6.7 percent over the effective tax rate, which represents the rate that would result in the same amount of revenue collected in FY 2016-17. The property tax rate change would increase the average homeowner’s property tax bill by $91 a year or $7.58 per month.
