Census: Austin welcomed 160 people per day in 2015-16, ranking ninth nationally

The Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area was the nation’s ninth-fastest growing metro last year and the most-populated location among the 15 fastest-growing metros, according to 2015-16 data released today from the U.S. Census Bureau. The latest Census population estimate reports that 58,301 new residents moved to the Austin metro from July 2015 to July 2016, or roughly 160 new residents a day. Williamson County added 57 new residents per day and Travis County increased by 67 per day, according to the data.
