Born Learning Trail Opens at Lake Creek Park in Round Rock during Pop Up Play Day
United Way of Williamson County and the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department will hold a ribbon cutting for a new Born Learning Trail at Lake Creek Park on Saturday, August 18 at 6:30 PM. The ribbon cutting will take place during the “Pop Up Play Day” at Lake Creek Park, 800 Deerfoot Drive, Round Rock.

The Born Learning Trail is a community change strategy developed by United Way Worldwide that is designed to boost children’s language, literacy, social, cognitive and emotional skills – and encourage families to get outside and get active. Lake Creek Park is the third Born Learning Trail installed in Williamson County; other locations include Champion Park in Cedar Park and Berry Springs in Georgetown.

Comprised of ten activity stations provided in both English and Spanish, the Born Learning Trail provides opportunities for parents, caregivers and educators to use time at the park to boost school readiness of children in their preschool years. Volunteers from Atmos Energy did the work to install the signs and activities along the trail.

“We are thrilled to bring the Born Learning Trail to Round Rock to provide another engaging, fun and free learning environment that nurtures the developmental growth of all children,” said United Way of Williamson County CEO, Jodee O’Brien. “Providing creative resources to help preschoolers enter school ready to succeed is a win for our children, parents, and the Round Rock community.”

The Born Learning Trail was funded by individual donors through gifts to United Way of Williamson County and Amplify Austin.
