Automatic for the people: See Austin autonomous shuttle demo March 16-17

Published on March 16, 2017 under CommunityImpact

In a few years Austinites could be using driverless shuttles for their first- and last-mile connections when using Capital Metro public transportation. Capital Metro is demonstrating how an autonomous shuttle works today and tomorrow at The University of Texas. The public may take a free ride today from 1-5 p.m. or tomorrow from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. outside Sid Richardson Hall, 2300 Red River St., Austin. “Capital Metro has been very involved with innovative solutions,” said Joe Iannello, the agency’s vice president and chief information officer.
