Agreement to allow expansion of Rosco Laboratories

Published on March 8, 2018 under RRnews

Movie magic will continue to be manufactured in Round Rock thanks to an agreement passed at Thursday’s City Council meeting.

Council passed a Chapter 380 Economic Development Program involving the expansion of Rosco Laboratories Inc. to a 4,000-square-foot building at 1600 Chisholm Trail.

Rosco has been manufacturing lighting and lighting effects for theater, film and television in Round Rock since 1994, and currently employs more than 30 in the city. The Connecticut-based company was founded in 1910 and has been honored with four awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the company’s lighting filters, backdrops and fog machines.

In addition to purchasing their building, Rosco has committed to making a $950,000 capital investment and maintaining 30 employees in Round Rock. The City agrees to make an economic incentive payment of $75,000 and waive permit fees up to $3,000.

The project was made possible through the Round Rock Chamber’s business retention and expansion efforts and will contribute to its innovative manufacturing economic development target sector.
