ACC opens new advanced facilities at Round Rock Campus
Austin Community College celebrated the grand opening of the Round Rock Campus Phase 2 project the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 26. The new expansion features the college’s third state-of-the-art ACCelerator with more than 140 computers, advanced science labs, classrooms, and a social staircase where students can gather to relax or study.
The funding for this project was approved by ACC district voters in November 2014.
“Years ago, the vision for Round Rock leaders was to have kids live, work and play when they came back [to our city], after they got their education,” Mayor Craig Morgan said at the opening. “Now…they don’t have to leave — they can live, work, play and get educated right here, from kindergarten all the way through college.”
ACC’s Round Rock Campus was opened in 2010 and is home to 5,000 students in Williamson County. The full-service campus offers degrees in health sciences (nursing, sonography, radiology, medical laboratory technology, surgical technology, and more), biotechnology, automotive technology, building construction technology, welding technology, accounting, computer information technology, astronomy, and transferable core curriculum courses.
