At 7:22 pm Friday, Dec. 30, eight Round Rock Fire Department units responded to a report of a fire at Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q, 2400 N IH 35. Witnesses driving by on IH 35 reported fire coming out of a chimney on the roof.

The business was open and serving customers at the time of the fire. Rudy’s employees evacuated their patrons with no injuries reported.

Initial reports from arriving companies advised that there was fire and embers showing from the roof coming from a chimney at the rear of the structure. The first unit was sent inside the store to check the condition and for possible extension into the building while two crews were sent to the roof to extinguish the fire.

A damage estimate is still being researched at this time.
