Round Rock ISD is soliciting names!
by ikishk @ Thursday August 27, 2009 - 15:36:26 PM

Please submit your choice.  As a Stone Oak resident, with this school in your community, you have to make sure to submit your choice, and not let someone else who doesnt live here name it for you.

Round Rock ISD is soliciting names for an elementary school and a middle school  which are both scheduled to open Fall 2010.

Schools will be named and/or dedicated according to the following guidelines:

- A school facility may not be named after any living individual. A school facility may be named for any individual who is deceased and who has historical significance for the community, state or nation.

- The recommendations for school names shall be studied by a committee. The committee will consist of seven citizens of the District, one selected by each of the seven Board members, one Board member appointed by the Board President, and one administrator appointed by the Superintendent. The committee will be chaired by the administrator.

by ikishk @ Tuesday August 25, 2009 - 11:18:38 AM
Effective August 25, The City of Round Rock has instituted Stage 2 water restrictions.  Please visit http://www.roundrocktexas.gov/home/index.asp?page=1639 for more Stage 2 information.  The latest news release can me located at http://www.roundrocktexas.gov/home/?page=10&recordid=1579.  Violation of the mandatory restrictions is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000.

  • Even-numbered address:  Thursday and/or Sunday
  • Outdoor irrigation with hose end sprinkler, soaker hose, drip irrigation only on water day(s), between 7 p.m. and 10am.
  • Outdoor irrigation with a permanently installed automatic irrigation system on water day(s) only between midnight and 10 a.m.
  • Watering with a hand held hose or bucket is allowed anytime.

  • Swimming pools, wading pools, fountains and ponds may not be refilled. However, this restriction does not apply to public swimming pools and wading pools equipped with filtration and a recirculation system that includes the gutter drains or that are not using water from the City's water distribution system. However, public pools may not be filled if there are unrepaired leaks. NOTE: The City Council will consider an ordinance at its meeting Thursday, Aug. 27, that would allow private pool owners to refill pools only on their watering days. (This provision is similar to exceptions other Central Texas utilities have implemented for Stage 2 restrictions.)
  • The operation of any ornamental fountain or other structure making similar use of water is prohibited except where necessary to support aquatic life.

New Driving laws effective 9/1/09
by ikishk @ Tuesday August 18, 2009 - 16:01:46 PM
These new laws take effect on September 1st.

Of particular interest are the following but please review the attached document from the Texas Department of Public Safety for more details.

1. Teen Drivers: Effective September 1, 2009, the laws for teenage drivers are getting tougher. Drivers younger than 18 are banned from using cell phones while driving (dialing, talking, texting) and total hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction a teen receives is increasing from 14 to 34 before getting a license.

2. Driving in a School Zone: Effective September 1, 2009, the use of a wireless device within a reduced-speed school zone is prohibited . Cellular phones may be used while the vehicle is stopped in a school zone or with a hands-free device. The law also applies to bus drivers. Violators are subject to a fine of up to $200. Note: Cities or counties wanting to enforce this law must post a sign at the beginning of each school zone to inform drivers that using a wireless communications device is prohibited and the operator is subject to a fine. THE SIGNS ARE UP IN SOME AREAS!

3. Seat Belts: Effective September 1, 2009, all occupants of a vehicle, no matter their age, front and back seat, must wear seatbelts.

Pay your dues online!!!
by ikishk @ Tuesday May 12, 2009 - 20:34:29 PM

We can finally allow the return of online payments via Paypal!  The main page has a link on the left to pay your dues, or click here!

There are some fee's associated with paypal which must be passed onto the homeowner, unfortunately there is no way around that.  Thanks for being patient and awaiting the return of modern technology into your HOA dues.  :)

Terravista Charter School
by morello @ Tuesday May 5, 2009 - 16:46:19 PM
We received a request to post this message on our site:

Attached is the flyer for the May 7th Charter School information session at the Teravista Community Center.  We've had a tremendous interest for this charter school.  It would be greatly appreciated if this could be posted on your HOA website to inform the residents of Stone Oak that this school is coming to Round Rock and they have this option for their children.  This flyer is also posted on several other local community websites as well.  The school is a public school therefore there is no cost.

Thank you very much

Lisa Wolf
